Abstract:

Chelating resins based on polyacrylonitrile and diethylenetriamine (PAN-DTA) wereprepared through the simple reaction of polyacrylonitrile with various volume percents ofdiethylenetriamine (DTA), (25, 50, 75 and 100). The prepared resins were applied to removeheavy metal ions such as Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) from aqueous solutions. The sorptionbehaviors of the resins for these metal ions were found to be greater at higher solution pH values.Highest sorption on PAN-DTA was determined as 5 mmol g-1 for Cu(II). The number of aminegroups present in the resin (amine capacity) is depended on the volume percent of DTA and themaximum capacity was obtained 6.25 mmol g-1. The resins and their metal complexes have beenstudied by FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetryanalysis (TGA). All these analyses methods confirmed the presence of metal in the metal-resincomplexes.

fabrication of new ion sensitive field effect transistors (isfet) based on modification of junction-fet for analysis of hydronium, potassium and hydrazinium ions

a novel and ultra low cost isfet electrode and measurement system was designed for isfet application and detection of hydronium, hydrazinium and potassium ions. also, a measuring setup containing appropriate circuits, suitable analyzer (advantech board), de noise reduction elements, cooling system and pc was used for controlling the isfet electrode and various characteristic measurements. the t...

Preparation of Amidoxime Polyacrylonitrile Chelating Nanofibers and Their Application for Adsorption of Metal Ions

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning and they were modified with hydroxylamine to synthesize amidoxime polyacrylonitrile (AOPAN) chelating nanofibers, which were applied to adsorb copper and iron ions. The conversion of the nitrile group in PAN was calculated by the gravimetric method. The structure and surface morphology of the AOPAN nanofiber were characterized ...

Removal of metal ions from aqueous solution by chelating polymeric microspheres bearing phytic acid derivatives

The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility to synthesize new chelating polymeric microspheres owing immobilized biocompatible agent as chelating functional groups and to evaluate their performance in metal ions removal from aqueous solution. The microparticles were synthesized via precipitation polymerization of 4-O-(4-vinylbenzyl)-myo-inositol 1,3,5-orthoformate with ethylene gly...
